summer-shade-trees-lgOn Saturday, December 13th, TreeFolks will give away free trees to qualifying Austin Energy customers from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sunset Valley Farmers’ Market!  To qualify for a free tree, you must be an Austin Energy customer and have enough empty space on your property for additional trees.  TreeFolks staff and volunteers will look up your address on Google Earth and determine how many trees you qualify for, select appropriate species, and give advice on proper planting and care of the trees.

We’re offering 125 each of 4 different species this Saturday.  Large (shade) tree species are Montezuma Cypress and Red Oak.  Small (understory) tree species are Mexican Plum and Texas Redbud.  For more information about this program, visit TreeFolks.org/NeighborWoods.

Planting trees along the street and round the home is one of the most effective ways to save energy in summer and adds beauty and value to your home.  The best time to plant trees in Central Texas RIGHT NOW, so come on out and get a free tree!
