Tree Folks - CommuniTrees Application

CommuniTrees is a tree grant/education program available to individuals or groups wishing to plant trees in publicly accessible areas within a thirty mile radius of Austin, Texas. There is no charge to participants in this program. Under the program TreeFolks can provide: Planting Supervisors, Trees, Design Assistance, Use of Tools, and Education Programs & Materials. CommuniTrees applicants must complete the attached application.

Applications may be submitted year-round, but planting is only scheduled between October 1 and March 30.

TreeFolks only provides native shade and ornamental trees. You may provide species names or descriptions of characteristics (i.e. 10 large shade trees, 5 small flowering trees, 2 fruit trees, etc.). All species preference are subject to availablity. If we need to suggest substitutes we will try to choose very similar trees.

Maintenance Information

Please describe your plan for maintenance of your newly planted trees.*

In order for newly planted trees to survive they must be weeded, mulched, protected from lawn equipment and especially WATERED. New trees MUST be WATERED every week that it doesn't rain at least one inch for 2 years. You will need to supply at least 2 cubic feet of mulch per tree before the planting day.

Consent Form & Site Plan

In order to approve your CommuniTrees application, TreeFolks must receive written consent from the owner or manager of the property. Please send a completed Consent Form and a sketch of your site plan by email to nina@treefolks.org or by mail to P.O. Box 704, Austin, TX 78767. If you are uncertain about what to plant where and need assistance, complete the rest of the application and send a drawing or satellite image of the site, including existing buildings and trees with your completed Consent Form.
