City Shade is a large scale, high-impact and highly organized planting program for public parks and public lands. This program gives citizens opportunities to participate in public tree plantings thereby improving their community. All City Shade plantings are developed in partnership with interested governments, businesses and organizations.

The City Shade Program has worked with the Cities of Austin, Bastrop, Buda, Round Rock, Georgetown, Lakeway, Lago Vista, San Leanna, Cedar Park, Pflugerville as well as the State of Texas, Travis County, the Lower Colorado River Authority and many neighborhood associations and civic organizations. In a typical City Shade planting TreeFolks provides planting supervisors, volunteers, tools and refreshments. In smaller communities or in plantings with community groups with fewer resources TreeFolks sometimes provides trees and mulch, as well.

Besides planting thousands of trees every year the City Shade program provides volunteer opportunities for individuals, families and groups throughout the planting season. Service organizations and business groups find that City Shade events offer a fun, well-organized opportunity to help the community and build camaraderie.
