SUMMARY:Tree Care at Perez Elementary
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with TreeFolks for a Tree Care work day at Perez Elementary!\nTreeFolks planted 50 5-gallon trees at this site in Austin in October 2022 as part of a project to increase urban canopy equity. Austin has experienced a 25% reduction in tree canopy cover over the past 30 years due to rapid urban growth, which is disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities in the eastern crescent of the city. Tree mulching is needed to help retain moisture around roots, prevent weed growth, and protect the trees from extreme temperatures.\nTreeFolks will provide all necessary materials, including gloves, tools, water, and snacks. Please bring a water bottle, dress for working outdoors, and take breaks when necessary!\nIf you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gillian: volunteer@treefolks.org, (512) 761-8738 cell\n
