When tragedy strikes, the overbearing reality of our circumstances can be terrifying. All too often, we can feel lonely in our grief and unsure of how to proceed. On May 23rd, 2015, grief struck Hays County in the form of a flood. A 40-foot wall of water rushed down<\/span> the Blanco River<\/span><\/a> and swept away lives and homes, uprooted and smashed precious 500-year-old cypress trees. The force of the waters scoured the banks of soil, trees, and wildlife.<\/span><\/p>\n

In September 2015, Hays County asked <\/span>TreeFolks<\/span><\/a> to develop a reforestation plan for planting trees along the devastated section of the <\/span>Blanco River<\/span><\/a>. From this request, the <\/span>Trees for the Blanco<\/span><\/i><\/a> program was formed. This year, TreeFolks has planted 96,000 saplings for families along the Blanco River. Since its creation, TreeFolks has helped plant 295,556 trees with the help of the Hays County community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"This Memorial Day Weekend, we will be attending Red, White & Blues on the Falls <\/a>as a remembrance of the 2015 floods. Red, White<\/a>\u00a0& Blues on the Falls<\/span><\/a> was born in 2016 as a way to create positive vibes in Wimberley, Texas on the anniversary of the 2015 floods.<\/span><\/p>\n

Come by and listen to some of the best live music, eat some of the best food, and join your neighbors as we ce<\/span>lebrate the future of Hays County. We only ask that you come with the intention of having a great time and making lots of friends. $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to TreeFolks to further our efforts towards community building, reforestation, education, and growing the urban forest.<\/p>\n
