TreeFolks was one of five organizations to receive large grants from Impact Austin, a local women’s philanthropy organization, during an awards ceremony at Austin City Hall on Wednesday. The other grant recipients were The Arc of the Capital Area, Capital IDEA, Partnerships for Children, and LifeWorks. Impact Austin votes on award recipients in five categories: Environment, Culture, Education, Family, and Catalyst. TreeFolks won the environmental category and will use the grant to fund our reforestation work along the Blanco River in Hays County.

Blanco River Reforestation Project Coordinator, Andreina “Ina” Alexatos, says that this grant is a huge win for the program and will enable TreeFolks to pay for the trees that several area tree nurseries have already started growing out. “While it doesn’t pay for the entire cost of the program, it is a huge relief to have such a large portion of it funded.”

The Statesman ran a story on the Impact Austin grant awards linked here.
