Super Volunteers Advanced Training: Tree Care at Rosedale School

Treefolks and AISD will complete some much-needed TLC on trees at the Rosedale School campus. Sign up for an opportunity to learn about young tree care with Austin ISD’s Urban Forester, Sydnie Levell. She will discuss topics such as pruning, root collar excavation, proper mulching, and watering.

Come see the newly built Rosedale School that supports families whose children have severe special needs. The Rosedale School offers one simple message: Your child is welcome here. Let’s support the Rosedale staff and students by ensuring they have healthy and happy trees!

This is a hands-on training opportunity, and we will be working outside. TreeFolks will provide all materials needed including gloves, tools, water, and snacks. Please bring a water bottle, dress for working outdoors, and take breaks when needed!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gillian: volunteer@treefolks.org, (512) 761-8738 cell

Sydnie Levell was born and raised in San Antonio Texas and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin Texas. Sydnie is an ISA Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist, and Tree Risk Assessment qualified. Her experience includes managing volunteer tree planting programs in the nonprofit sector, working in utility forestry, and reviewing development plans with the City of Austin Community Tree Preservation program. This background has supported her in her new role as the AISD Urban Forester where she manages 130 campuses and approximately 16,000 trees.

THIS TRAINING IS OPEN TO ANYONE, BUT YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS OLD MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN.
