Tree ID for Seed Savers at Festival Beach Food Forest

Have you been wondering what kind of tree is growing in your yard? Maybe you want to learn a fun new skill? Well, you’re in luck because the Central Texas Seed Savers and TreeFolks are coming to Festival Beach Food Forest to lead a Tree ID lesson to help you learn more about what’s growing around you! Folks of all ages can learn about the key characteristics that help differentiate one tree from another and apply those skills afterward to help keep our urban ecosystem diverse and resilient.

The Central Texas Seed Savers is a growing network of people who love seeds to prevent the extinction of ecologically and culinarily essential plants in the Central Texas Region.

TreeFolks was founded as Austin’s Urban Forestry non-profit in 1989. Since then, TreeFolks has grown to work with communities throughout Central Texas in community tree planting, tree giveaways, education, and urban wildland reforestation efforts. Our mission is to empower Central Texans to build stronger communities through planting and caring for trees.

In honor of Earth Day 2024, we are hosting Education Forest Walks led by guest teachers from TreeFolks and Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine.

For this special occasion, you can choose between a Tree ID walk, focused on learning about the various trees in our forest, or a Plant ID walk, focused on the medicinal properties and applications of multiple plants.

Wildflower School provides transformative holistic herbal education, specializing in bioregional, local plants, gardening, and herb clinics.
