Volunteer Workday at the TreeFolks Nursery
In 2023, TreeFolks embarked on a new project that will greatly enhance our mission and allow us to plant more trees!
We started our own native tree nursery where we are growing saplings and bigger trees in pots. The success of this project will rely heavily on volunteer involvement during both the continuing construction phase and day-to-day operation. You can help with shade structure construction, soil sifting and mixing, plant bands preparation, seed sorting and cleaning, sowing and transplanting, and more. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the propagation of woody species native to our region while contributing your time and effort to a worthy cause of growing more trees.
We’re excited to welcome Lindsay Branham, PhD, environmental psychologist and Emmy-nominated filmmaker, to our upcoming Nursery Day. She’s the author of Heartwood: The Wisdom and Healing Kinship of Trees, a tender, science-meets-spirit book about reconnecting with trees through reciprocity, eco-grief, and the healing power of kinship with the living world. Stop by to say hello and chat with Lindsay about her work and how trees can help us care for our communities and our planet. (Hachette Book Group)
Please bring a water bottle, dress for working outdoors, and take breaks when you need to!
