Austin’s awesome urban forest is in the news this week.

Austin is featured in the National Geographic web feature for National Arbor Day, “Nine Cities That Love Their Trees – And What They’re Doing About It.”  At 37% tree canopy, Austin has the 2nd highest urban tree canopy in the nation.

TreeFolks couldn’t be more proud of its twenty-five year partnership with the City of Austin to plant trees in our parks and green spaces and the wonderful volunteers who plant those trees!  With the recently adopted Austin Urban Forest Plan, we’re sure to remain one of the greenest cities in the USA!  We’re so grateful to the Austin Urban Forestry Department and the Austin Urban Forestry Board members who have been working on this plan for several years.  We’re lucky to live in a City that highly values its trees and canopy cover and is working to preserve existing canopy as well as plant new trees.

Austin’s urban forester, Angela Hanson, talks about The Plan with KXAN.  You can read it here.
