Join us at Auditorium Shores the evening of December 6th for a TreeBombing!  Volunteers will convene at the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue at 4:30 p.m. to sign in, get their glow gear, and break out into groups to plant fifty native trees.  Right around sunset, Minor Mishap Marching Band, Austin’s original renegade circus brass band, will join us to cheer on the volunteers and add to the fun atmosphere!  In addition to glow necklaces and musical entertainment,  refreshments by Flats and coffee donated by Third Coast Coffee Roasting Company.

Volunteers are advised to wear long pants and closed toe shoes, bring a water bottle, and dress appropriately for the weather.  Tools and gloves are provided, but you are more than welcome to bring your own work or gardening gloves if you prefer.  As you might imagine, parking is limited and we strongly encourage you to take public transportation, carpool, or plan arrive early to allow time to find a coveted parking spot near Auditorium Shores.

This volunteer tree planting event is organized in partnership with the City of Austin Urban Forestry Division through TreeFolks’ City Shade program, which coordinates with local community partners to provide environmental volunteer opportunities to plant trees on public lands, mulch trees in parks, preserves, and right-of-ways, and host educational workshops about trees and tree care.  We plant native trees to beautify and shade public spaces, provide habitat for wildlife, reduce and filter storm water runoff, and improve quality of life for all Austin residents.  When you volunteer to plant trees, you’ll learn the importance of urban forest stewardship and how planting trees helps Austin’s environment and its citizens thrive!

If you’ve volunteered with us before and would like to come early to the event and supervise small groups of volunteers, send an email to Rebecca (volunteer at treefolks dot org) and prepared to arrive at the event at 3:30 p.m.
