Fall is the best time to plant trees in Central Texas, so TreeFolks is giving away baby trees! TreeFolks hosts our second Sapling Day giveaway of the 2016-2017 planting season – Saturday, October 29 at Austin’s Cepeda Branch Library with special guest Marika Alvarado, local plant medicine woman.

Come to the Cepeda Branch Library for a fun, family event this coming Saturday!
Arrive early to pick up your baby Bur oak or Carolina buckthorn sapling, learn about how to plant and care for it, and stick around to learn about medicinal uses of Texas trees from medicine woman Marika Alvarado. Try one of Marika’s cookies made from mesquite bean flour. Enjoy tree-themed stories in Spanish and English and participate in tree crafts and activities at TreeFolks education table.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, a supporter of Sapling Day, will also be on hand to speak with community members.
